The first key direction-setting program, 'Relation Study of Environmental Change and Ecosystem since Holocene on the Tibetan Plateau', held its annual session on March 26 and 27, 2006. Academician Prof. Sun Honglie presided over the session, which witnessed six reports on the progress of each subject and 2006 research plans in concern. After the report, attendants also exchanged views with each other on their ongoing studies, in particular, on what they have achieved with the support of this program.
On the afternoon of 27th, attendants had an academic session evolving around 'glacier retreat and its effects on environment and ecology on the Tibetan Plateau.
Academicians, Prof Zhengdu and Li Wenhua offered academic insights into the discussion. Some administrative staff in CAS as Huang Tieqing and Zhou Shaoping, Heads of CAS Bureau of Natural Resources and Environment also sat in on the session.
