The number of overseas visitors in Tibet has climbed up over the past 5 months with 41,726 person-times, up by 63.5% to last year, which takes 92.3% for all overseas visitors in China.
Among them, Oceanian visitors take the largest increase percentage which is 71% and Asian visitors go to the second (70.2%) followed by European visitors, 66% and American at the last place which is 53.5%.
America and Japan are the two largest visitor source countries of TAR. 73.3% more Japanese visited Tibet than in 2006. Meanwhile, the market in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan are also growing up rapidly. There were 3,458 visitors from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan with a total increase of 200% to last year. Visitors from Taiwan are 1,813 person-times with an increase of 86.9%, which is the largest group among the three areas.
In addition TAR gains a foriegn exchange income of 17.27 million USD for the past 5 months, up by 106.8%.
